Constantin Hering
Constantine Hering
1800-1880
was born in 1800 in Oschatz, Saxony. During his medical studies, he was the assistant to the outspoken foe of homeopathy, Dr. Robbi, who asked Hering to document the “heresy” of homeopathy. While completing this task, however, Hering became a proponent of homeopathy.
He was awarded his doctorate in 1826 for “de Medicina futura” (On the Medicine of the Future).
He traveled from 1827 to 1833, becoming the personal physician to the Governor of Surinam and discovering the remedy Lachesis. He then moved to Philadelphia in 1833, where he was responsible for founding various institutes of homeopathy.
Hering was one of the leading homeopaths of his time. With his charisma and energy, he made a major contribution to homeopathy, which continues to the present day.
